Art & Relaxation (Adult)
Do you lead a busy life? Are you looking for some ‘me time’ to regroup? Join us for this creative and therapeutic class! You will have an opportunity to practice Japanese relaxation techniques that will promote healthy mindfulness. Listen to relaxing, meditative music, while exploring your creative side. You will enjoy learning how to compose a beautiful work of art that you will be proud to display! The instructor will nurture your artistic side, but also give you relaxation exercises to help with the daily challenges of life.
Kris Mastley Holtmeyer is a certified Reiki Master Practitioner. She enjoys teaching her students relaxation methods that create a peaceful inner soul and enhance everything in life. Practicing relaxation techniques aids in stress reduction, better sleep, and can help to improve and maintain health.
Art History: A to Z (Adult & Youth)
Are you interested in learning about some of the Great Artists, but would simply like a basic overview of art history? This entertaining and educational course will take you on an adventure around the world to meet some of the most accomplished artists in history! What made these artists unique? What thoughts went through their minds as they composed their works of art? This is an interactive course, so there will be plenty of time to ask questions during class! A variety of pictures of the artists’ work will be shared.
This course can also be combined with a “hands-on” course.
Bold Impressionism Canvas Painting (Adult)
Would you like to learn how to paint an impressionistic work of art using vibrant colors? You will choose a simple outline for your project and transfer your design onto a blank canvas. Fill your palette with endless colors and let your creativity shine! Have fun learning how to apply patches of paint to your canvas, using a spectrum of color throughout your design. Your composition will brighten any room!

Chalk Pastels (Youth)

Using a simple technique, you will create a basic outline of your project. You will enjoy learning how to use both black and white charcoal and a blending stub to generate contrast and make your composition look realistic! A white mat will frame your completed projects that you can proudly display.

Learn how to manipulate your slab of clay by using such techniques as wedging, scoring and meshing, which will be demonstrated during class. Plastic tools will be used to sculpt and mold a special three-dimensional composition of your choice. Clay sculptures will need to air-dry for approximately one week prior to painting and sealing applications. Clay Sculpture II will be offered to students who wish to paint and seal their sculptures.

Decoupage (Adult)
Do you like the look of Decoupage? This fun medium can be quite relaxing and therapeutic! Choose from a wide assortment of beautiful decorative papers for you project. Have fun cutting or tearing your papers into pieces, while you enjoy a casual visit with other students in the class. Learn how to apply a special adhesive and attach your colorful pieces of decorative papers to your three-dimensional object. Embellishments may be added to compliment your stunning work of art. Your project will then be sealed with a nontoxic liquid varnish.
Decoupage (Youth)
Would you like to learn how to make a beautiful three-dimensional work of art? Decoupage is the fun and creative method of decorating an object with vibrant pieces of colorful papers. You will be supplied with a three-dimensional object, decorative papers, adhesive and scissors. Cut or tear small pieces of various papers and learn how to apply a special adhesive to create an amazing work of art! You will add sparkling jewels to complete your decoupage. Projects will then be sealed with a nontoxic liquid varnish.
Drawing Fundamentals and Perspective (Adults)
Are you interested in drawing, but don’t know where to start? This practical introductory course is designed to introduce you to the basic concepts of fundamental drawing. You will practice drawing ellipses and learn how to draw two- and three-dimensional objects from common shapes. Experiment with one- and two-point perspective and create a three-dimensional cube. Learn how to shade and create layers to make your composition come to life! You will enjoy working with a variety of drawing materials, including a drawing pencil, kneaded eraser, blending stub and drawing paper to create realistic looking objects.

Duct Tape Sculptures (Youth)
Did you know that duct tape isn’t just for fixing things? Join us for this fun and creative class as you explore the world of duct tape art! First, you will brainstorm ideas for your special sculptures. Not sure what type of sculptures to make? You may find that pictures from magazines or photographs will be helpful. Be sure to bring the pictures to class! Then, using flexible wire and other art supplies, you will create your base sculpture to form a solid structure. Choose your favorite duct tape colors and learn how to apply strips of tape to your wire sculpture to make it come to life! These sculptures will become a keepsake.

Next, you will gently splatter unidentified stars and maybe even create an unknown planet. Watch your composition come to life!

Feather Art is fascinating! Several cultures from around the world practice this unique art form. You will have the opportunity to choose a template from a wide array of patterns. By studying the shapes in your design, you will select a variety of feathers to create your work of art. Enjoy strategically placing and arranging the feathers in your design to resemble your object. You will complete your project by attaching the feathers to a heavy multimedia paper to create your very own vibrant feather art!

Feather Art is fascinating! Several cultures from around the world practice this unique art form. You will choose a simple pattern for your project. By studying the shapes in your design, you will select a variety of feathers to create your work of art. Have fun placing your feathers in different directions to resemble your object. You will complete your project by attaching the feathers to a heavy multimedia paper to create your very own vibrant feather art!
Finger Painting (Adult)
Have you ever used your fingers to paint on canvas? It's fun and easy! Join us as we explore this unique painting technique. Using only your fingers and aqua-based oil paint, you will enjoy creating an impressionistic composition on canvas. Students are encouraged to bring a favorite full-color photocopy to class to use as a guide. Or, they can use one of the instructor's. Latex-free gloves will be available for students to wear while they are creating their one-of-a-kind work of art.
Finger Painting (Youth)
Does your child like to paint? Do they enjoy getting their hands messy? Your student will have fun creating their very own painting on canvas using only their fingers! They will enjoy learning how to apply colorful non-toxic paints using fun and easy techniques. Your student will be proud to display their one-of-a-kind work of art!
Garden Stepping Stones (Adult)
Have you always wanted to make a special stepping stone for your garden or yard? Learn how to mix and pour cement into the mold, without getting messy. Create a beautiful work of art by arranging colorful pieces of cut glass, rocks, glass pebbles and/or other embellishments to your stone. Projects can be taken home the same day, but will need to set after class. Cure time is approximately one week. Stones can be used indoors or outdoors. An exterior sealer may be applied to both sides of the stone once it has cured. This will help preserve your mosaic for years to come. Stones should be brought indoors prior to the winter cold.
Garden Stepping Stones (Youth)
Have you always wanted to make a special stepping stone? Learn how to mix and pour cement into the mold, without getting messy. Create a beautiful work of art by arranging colorful pieces of glass pebbles, small rocks, and/or other embellishments to your stone. Projects can be taken home the same day, but will need to set after class. Cure time is approximately one week. Stones can be used indoors or outdoors. An exterior sealer may be applied to both sides of the stone once it has cured. This will help preserve your mosaic for years to come. Stones should be brought indoors prior to the winter cold.

Mask Making I (Youth)
Join us for this educational adventure as we learn about mask making! Did you know that masks have historically been used to symbolize the spirits of people and animals? Used in ceremonial events, masks are among the most treasured forms of art in the world. You will begin the process by designing your own themed mask on drawing paper and deciding on a color scheme. Now, let the fun begin! You will enjoy learning how to wet and apply strips of plaster to your three-dimensional mask - watch it take shape! When the plaster application is complete, your plaster mask will need to air-dry for one week. You will paint your project in Mask Making II.

Mask Making II (Youth)
Please note that Mask Making I (Youth) is a prerequisite for this course.
Now that your project from Mask Making I has had time to dry thoroughly, you will have the opportunity to paint and decorate your three-dimensional mask! You will enjoy using a variety of brushes and mixing acrylic paints to apply color to your mask. Add vibrant feathers, strands of beads, metallic buttons, raffia, or other festive embellishments to complete your project. Using a liquid sealer will protect your work of art. Proudly display your final creation!
Metal Painting (Adult)
Have you always wanted to try painting on metal? Do you have a creative idea that you would like to attempt? Join us as we explore this fun and easy art medium! You will have an opportunity to choose a metal object for your project. Using your own design or one of the instructor’s, you will choose an image and transfer it onto your painting surface. Learn how to mix and apply colorful oil or enamel paints, using a variety of paintbrushes for your work of art. An interior (indoor) or exterior (outdoor) sealer may be used once your project has had time to cure.

This course can be individualized or used as a group activity. The material is geared toward students ages 10 or older.

See a favorite photo come to life on canvas! In this relaxing introductory course, you will have an opportunity to use your own 8.5” x 11” photo (or photocopy), as a guide while replicating the image onto a painting canvas with graphite. You will use a variety of palette knives (tools) and have fun using a unique technique to mix and apply paint to your canvas. That's right, no paint brushes necessary! Have you ever wanted to create your own print design? This fun, creative course will give you exposure to the world of basic printmaking. You will have the opportunity to create and carve your own unique designs on foam, using a special stylus. When your carvings are completed, you will use a brayer to roll water-based inks onto your foam design to create a multitude of prints on various colored paper stocks. You will have time to make several prints. Choose your favorite prints and they will be matted!

Quilling is the art of curling colorful, thin strips of paper into different shapes to create ornate and interesting designs. You will learn how to use a metal slotted tool and special quilling paper to make your own works of art. As you work on your composition, you will attach the curled pieces of paper onto weighted paper with a nontoxic adhesive to create a collage. If you would like, the project may be framed.
